玩电脑总会遇到不认识的英文单词
尽管网络上有很多查单词的地方 甚至 BBS 水木清华站 也提供单词查询服务
不过本机装一个单词翻译软件还是很有必要
这里推荐 星际译王 StarDict

(事实上 不单Linux, FreeBSD，Solaris，Windows 下都可用)

先前玩BBS cdict 是大家用的最多的外部调用 小巧精致
xdict 也是桌面环境出色的作品 伏建军"夜已深"的说明似乎还在眼前
Kdict 是为KDE做的字典查询客户端 通过TCP/2628 dict 同服务器查询交互

这里推荐的 stardict 本身已有多年历史
如今由四川大学0字班的胡政维护开发
2003年3月 胡政基于stardict-1.33 重写了 stardict2

stardict 如今具有选中区取词，通配符匹配，模糊查询等强大功能
就像题目所说 stardict 很类似windows下的金山词霸 如词典管理 信息速查
